Ingredients:
1lb ground beef (or Ground Turkey)
2-4 tablespoons of Homemade Chili Seasoning
1 can kidney beans (drained)
1 can pinto beans (drained)
1 can of corn (drained)
1 can of crushed, peeled tomatoes
*If you like thinner chili add some beef broth or fill the tomato can with water.
Instructions:
Brown meat in a pot. I like to use my handy dandy meat chopper to chop the meat up. If you like it chunky, don't chop too much.
Add your chili seasoning and mix with meat. Let the meat and seasoning simmer while you prep the other ingredients.
Drain your beans and corn and mix with the meat.
Add the can of tomatoes and mix it all.
Let the chili simmer for about 15-20 minutes on low to allow everything to infuse.
Optional Toppings:
Shredded cheese (cheddar or Monterey Jack)
Sour cream
Sliced green onions
Fresh cilantro
Crushed tortilla chips
Jalapeño slices
Serving Suggestions:
Scoop it: Scoop the chili with yummy corn chip scoops.
Baked Potato: Serve over a split baked potato and top with favorite toppings. My kids LOVE this!
With Cornbread: A warm slice of cornbread is the perfect sidekick to a bowl of chili.
Over Rice: Serve it on top of a bed of steamed rice for a heartier meal.
In a Bowl: Top with your favorite chili toppings and enjoy!
With Grilled Cheese: make up your favorite grilled cheese to dip in the chili.
Final Thoughts:
Homemade chili is not just a meal; it's an experience. It's perfect for meal prepping, feeding a crowd, or simply curling up on a cold day. This recipe is also flexible—feel free to swap in different beans, add veggies like bell peppers or zucchini, or switch up the meat. The possibilities are endless!
